Why the name 'Good Friday' ?

Good Friday is the Friday before Easter Day.

The name is derived from 'God's Friday' in the same way as good bye is derived from 'God be with ye'

In Germany, the Friday before Easter is called Silent Friday, and in Greece, Holy or Great Friday.

  1. Easter Sunday should be left as a holiday
I also think it is wrong that garden centres
are going to break the law and be open to the public.

  2. My mum,(a British Jamaican) has always maintained that the house should not be cleaned during the Easter weekend,so there's always a big rush to clean evey room thoroughly. She says that if we did any housework, especially washing clothes, then this would 'wash someone out of the family'(cause death). Also she says that no-one should eat meat over this period as well...
